Dear Edenton Residents, Family Members and Staff:

The Food and Drug Administration advisory panel recommended approval of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE, which then cleared the way for the FDA to grant emergency authorization of the vaccine late yesterday. I wanted to share with you the latest
information Edenton has received regarding the vaccine program for our Residents and staff members.

Here is what I have confirmed this week from Omnicare/CVS:

  • CVS will be the pharmacy who will hold the vaccination clinics here at Edenton.
  • Edenton assisted living residents and staff are included in the priority phase 1 vaccination phase.
Although Independent Living Residents were included in our counts with CVS, they are not part of the Phase 1A program, I have been in touch with our community pharmacy (Whitesell Pharmacy). If Whitesell’s receives their anticipated vaccine quantities, they will schedule a vaccine clinic for Edenton IL Residents.
  • Edenton is awaiting clinic dates. This should occur within a couple of weeks
  • We will receive a one week notice of the first clinic date.
  • There are no fees, copays or cost to receive the vaccine. Insurance information is only being submitted as required and insurance will pay for the vaccine administration.
  • The vaccine consent (in triplicate) form must be signed by either the Resident or authorized person. If you have given permission for your assisted living family member to receive the vaccine and they can sign their own name, we will assist them with this step. If the Resident can not sign, we will need to coordinate for you to come to Edenton to sign the consent form. We will have limited time to accomplish
    this process.
  • Three clinic dates will be scheduled. Each person will need to receive two vaccinations. As previously mentioned, Edenton’s medical director Dr. Hemen Shah has been consulted and we will be staggering which Residents and staff members will receive the vaccine during the first two clinic dates. This is to ensure that should anyone experience side effects, this does not happen all at once for everyone.
  • We can only STRONGLY encourage everyone (Residents and Staff) to receive the vaccine. We cannot mandate anyone getting the vaccine.
  • Please reference the CDC website for detailed questions concerning the vaccine and program. COVID-19 Vaccination | CDC

Edenton will continue to keep you apprised of any updates and information as it is received regarding the vaccine program.

Be well,
RaeAnn Butler
