Edenton Residents, Family Members and Staff;
I was notified today that an outside vendor who provided services within our Assisted Living buildings and for our Independent Residents has tested positive for the COVID 19 virus.
We will follow the MD Health Department directives as well as work with our local health department liaison to ensure the health and safety of our Residents and Staff. We have been directed to do the following for this situation. All Assisted Living Residents, Independent Living Residents and Edenton Staff who were in contact with this individual will be tested immediately. This individual did not enter the Garden House Building. I do not know the frequency or the duration of this testing as it will all be determined on the results returned from the first round of tests. Residents and staff will continue to be monitored for signs and symptoms, as we have been doing for many months. If there is any change, you will be notified immediately.
Out of an abundance of caution, we will have to stop visitation in those buildings involved at the recommendation of the Frederick County Health Department. We have also been informed we will not be placed on an outbreak status at this time.
Assisted Living Residents will be tested by their AL nurses.
Independent Living Residents will be tested by the Home Care nurse.
Edenton staff will be tested by their supervisor.
I ask everyone to continue to take this virus seriously and do all that you can to protect yourself, your family members, and the general community. As we know, cases are rising and even an asymptomatic person can test positive for the virus and be exposed in the general community by a variety of situations. Although the virus was not brought here by a staff, or family member at Edenton, the results impact the Edenton campus family greatly!
If I can answer any question or provide you with additional information, please reach out to me or another member of our team.

Ruth Strasburger
