Dear Residents, Family Members and Staff:

Again, this week testing results are slow to come in due to the holiday and the lab schedule. I have received most of the resident results and some staff results today. We have received a report that one Fiddler’s Green resident tested positive and one staff person (who has not worked in 3 weeks). Here are the details and actions for each of the AL buildings.
Assisted Living results:
Orchard Terrace – all residents tested came back negative this week. No one is on isolation precautions. Residents still are quarantined due to state requirements.
Garden House – all residents tested came back negative again this week. No resident is on isolation precautions, but we continue our attempts to keep residents distanced. We have reduced the staff use of PPE from all the time and precautions will continue to be taken.
Blossom Place – residents tested came back negative this week. One resident gets released from isolation precautions after tomorrow. Residents still are quarantined due to state requirements.
Fiddler’s Green – all residents were tested and one resident came back positive. Residents and family contact made this afternoon. Residents are quarantined.
All assisted Living residents will quarantine in their rooms and continue to be monitored every shift daily. Weekly testing will continue each Monday or Tuesday depending upon the building and the schedule.
Independent Living Residents:
Although we have not had any more IL residents express concerns about symptoms or test positive this week, we will still restrict services and movement. I continue to ask that residents refrain from being with others, going to other apartments, no small group gathering, and everyone must wear a mask when leaving their cottages – no matter who they are with. Manor House remains closed for activity and services.
Resident should still refrain from being with family members and other visitors to minimize potential exposure following the Christmas holiday. The Frederick community is at a 10.8% positivity rate and it is expected to increase following Christmas gatherings.
Vaccination Update:
Edenton still has not received a date from CVS for our vaccination clinic for assisted living residents and staff. The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) announced today that assisted living residents and staff are in phase 1B of the vaccination plan. MDH has not activated that phase yet and is only providing vaccine to phase 1A – nursing homes, hospitals and first responders. I will continue to keep you updated as we hear more news
2020 has certainly been a historic and epic year. A year many of us will be glad is behind us. Let us not forget all that we still accomplished this year despite dealing with the pandemic and take those lessons forward so that we can continue to improve, learn, provide service, care, and respect for each other.

Happy New Year!
