Dear Residents, Family Members and Staff:

I wanted to share with you several important dates as well as important information related to the Covid pandemic and other matters.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS:

Thursday, October 6thannual flu vaccine. IL vaccines begin at 9am in the chapel space and AL will follow at about 11 am. Staff members can get vaccine at any time during the day.

Thursday, October 20thCovid bivalent booster vaccine. This is the newest booster vaccine being made available. We will follow the same schedule as other vaccine clinics.

Reminder: Residents and staff are eligible to receive this new booster if it has been at least two months since they have completed their primary series vaccines, or last booster. Anyone who recently tested positive for the Covid virus is suggested to wait 3 months (90 DAYS) for the booster vaccine.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  1. COVID related updates
    1. Assisted Living masking, isolation and testing guidance – The CDC and CMS issued updated guidance late last Friday afternoon dropping its universal masking guideline for healthcare workers when community transmission rates are not high. But, within minutes of this communication, Maryland Department of Health reminded all long-term care facilities that Nursing Home Matters, Healthcare Matters, and Vaccination Matters orders are still in effect at this time. So this means the following for Edenton AL – basically there are no changes and:
      1. AL staff will still be wearing a mask. Residents are requested to wear a mask as they are able when outside of their rooms attending events.
      2. Visitors MUST wear a mask at all times.
  • Visitors will be permitted to screen and temp in at the buildings in the front desk logbooks.
  1. Children who cannot wear a mask, must visit with Resident outside.
  2. Guest meals are still not permitted in the AL dining rooms. If you wish to dine with your AL Resident, please call us to make arrangement to dine in the main dining room.
  1. IL will be mask optional – Frederick County’s positivity rate is now in the 7% range. Independent living residents and IL staff will have the option to not wear a mask in the Manor House and IL related events and activities.
    1. Do not attend an activity or meal if you are not feeling well. Report any illness to the home care nurse.
    2. If you enter an AL building, masking is still required.
  2. Open enrollment for Medicare – Open enrollment for Medicare runs from October 15th to Dec 7th. The Medicare Part D prescription plan is one plan you should review each year and this can be done during open enrollment. You can use Medicare’s plan comparison tool (medicare.gov/plan-compare) to input your medications you take and compare plan costs. This way you can compare the premium, as well as out of pocket costs such as co-pays and deductibles.

If you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan, you also have the ability to review and edit these plans during the open enrollment for plans to be effective Jan 1st.

Thank you for your continued understanding and patience as we continue to navigate the impact of Covid – 19.

Be well,

RaeAnn Butler, Administrator
