Garden House is a special place designed to maximize functioning in a group of residents experiencing various dementia diagnoses. The physical layout gives residents choices of safe places to explore inside and outside. Structured activities need to be adapted to the individual needs of those who participate and Garden House is all about doing it right. May 16 is “National Do Something Nice For Your Neighbor Day” and there is an activity planned around this theme. It starts with a hands on project to make some floral crafts with a goal of sharing them a neighbor. Studies show that acts of kindness can have significant mental health benefits. The May activities schedule includes numerous activities centered around music to stimulate memories, Spiritual time with Chaplain Keegan and lots of games and snacks.
