Dear Residents, Family Members and Staff:

Good morning. For the past month we have continued to monitor the current data for COVID positive cases in the general community and our campus activity. For the past month, we have had no cases with Residents or staff.

The general trend for Frederick County shows the numbers are declining and last week the Covid-19 transmission level lowered from high to substantial. Just to remind you, the transmission level is the category that long term care facilities must use to determine best practice and what steps we should take to protect ourselves.

Given this information, I am changing our mask wearing to an optional activity beginning today on campus. I strongly encourage anyone who remains at risk or is concerned about contracting the virus to continue to wear a mask. We all will support your personal decision. Many Residents remain a high risk for the virus and should consider wearing a mask when outside of their personal apartment or unit.

Should a positive case be reported, Edenton may need to re-implement mask wearing requirements in certain buildings or locations depending upon the outbreak.

Continued steps Edenton will take are as follows:

  1. Any Resident, independent living or assisted living who tests positive for covid will be isolated for 10 days in their rooms/apartments. Wearing of a mask may be re-implemented.
  2. Staff and Residents can decide if and when they want to wear a mask, except when there is an outbreak of one case.
  3. Guest meals are still NOT permitted in the AL dining rooms due to space limitations. If you wish to dine with your AL Resident, please call us to make arrangements to dine in the main dining room or private conference room.
  4. Any Resident who tests positive for the virus may still receive visitors who wear the proper PPE (supplies). Residents must be isolated for a minimum of 10 days or until the symptoms go away.

Thank you for your continued understanding and patience as we continue to navigate the impact of Covid – 19.

Be well,

RaeAnn Butler
